10 July 2003 - GST Relief for Financial Institutions!

In a recent Australian Taxation Office drafting ruling (GSTR 2003/D3) issued 9 July, 2003, Australia's banking industry seems set to enjoy GST relief for expenditure on IT and processing services incurred.

The ruling, when passed will benefit all financial institutions large and small. It will ultimately encourage outsourcing of IT & processing activities, which for the Internet and associated industries will also be of great benefit.

Whilst copies of the draft ruling are available from the Australian Taxation Office website, I encourage all clients which fall into the classifications addressed to re-assess their internal systems and look towards the solution of outsourcing as a more cost effective path.
